WATERDRAGEN  

The photo series WATERDRAGEN ("carrying water), tells a poetic story about awareness and hope. 'Nature is on RED ALERT', is the deeper message that lies behind this partially staged visual narrative. A farm girl, dressed in red, wanders through the landscape of Huis ter Heide. Aware of the environmental issues, she seeks to help the area’s nature survive in her own whimsical way. Instead of milking cows, she carries buckets of water into the forest, balanced on a wooden yoke across her shoulders, quenching the thirst of the trees. The nearby fens serve as a ‘source of life.’ But these natural water sources must be allowed to endure.

As an artwork, the photo series becomes a call to recognize water as the cornerstone of fragile ecosystems. If we cherish and respect this essential source of life, we can foster a more sustainable harmony between humanity and nature.
