Photobook - DEN HEKSE WEEG - The Witches Road
The 160-page photo book, designed by visual artist, photographer, costume designer and author Ingeborg Steenhorst, uses artistic analog photography to immerse you in the story of two artistic women from Maastricht: sisters Rafke and Kim Hotterbeekx. On the darkest day of the year, the winter solstice, they enter the Savelsbos forest to honor nature with rituals and ceremonies and to pray for its return of light.
In addition to the photo series, Steenhorst also wrote inspiring short stories and poems about sisterhood, mysticism, and nature religion. Beautiful artworks by sisters Kim and Rafke Hotterbeekx, along with (natural) history facts about the area and local witch stories, complete the book.
