"The natural world is a place of wonder and imagination. I see it as my calling to make this visible to you."

About

Ingeborg Steenhorst (born 1973) is a Belgian-Dutch artist, photographer, and costume designer. Her work is strongly influenced by nature, ethnic, and historical art. She uses both analog and digital photography as a means of (self-)reflection and awareness. Through narrative, staged photo series, she expresses her emotions and reflects on social themes such as climate change and environmental damage. Her signature style includes a theatrical use of light and shadow, which amplifies emotion and tension in her photographs. Her almost painterly approach to post-production, combined with the use of her own designed costumes, gives her photography a mysterious, layered, and compelling visual power. May 2025 the artist self published a first photobook entiteld 'WATERDRAGEN'. The book tells a visual story about the importance of water as a source of life.
