The tiara 'Under Lock And key' is part of the art collection 'Royals' by costume designer and visual artist Ingeborg Steenhorst. The collection features headdress designs inspired by extraordinary characters and royal women from the past, present and realm of fiction. Each design is delicate and handmade. For this special tiara, Ingeborg was inspired by Wilhelmina, Queen of the Netherlands. The headdress has gold 'bars' covering the eyes to symbolize a 'royal gold cage'. Purple and gold brocade were Queen Wilhelmina's favorite colors and therefore the main color in the headdress. The design is richly embellished with vintage jewelry components such as gold plated charms, glass beads and glass pearls. This use of vintage materials gives the piece a historic atmosphere.
